Icaro – variazioni sul mito (2023)

“When a soul is born in this country, nets are thrown to prevent its escape. You talk about religion, language and nationality: I will try to escape from those nets".

Human beings have no wings. Man moves by walking, at the most by running, but always horizontally. This is why our fantasies of freedom are always linked to an ascent, a flight, or a descent, such as sliding or letting go.

Life is a dive into a horizontal labyrinth. Freedom is a vertical movement, a flight towards the stars, or a setting of the same.

The desire represents the expectation of something, a promise of Good, the same vital impulse of Icarus' heart that inevitably leads him to keep looking for what, or rather "who", is capable of satisfying his ardent wish.
